Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Education Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank discussed about class 10 and 12 board exams. Congratulations for all class 10 students, for the cancellation of board exams, or All India Secondary School Exam (A.I.S.S.E.) 2021. Finally CBSE has issues guidelines clearly stating that board exams for class 10 will not be conducted. In this article you will get to know how board percentage will be released by board. Before that I, Adi Sharma, would like you all to see what actually board has released in its Notification CBSE/CE/EXAM.2021/ dated 14th April 2020:-
“The board exams of Class 10 have
been cancelled due to spread of COVID-19 second wave. The exams were earlier
scheduled from 4th May 2021 to 10th June 2021. The results
shall be prepared based on some objective criterion, which will
be released by boards. Any candidate not satisfied with marks, will be given a
special opportunity to sit in rank improvement board exam, to be held after
COVID-19 second wave.”
Most students are unable to
understand what exactly this objective criterion is. Even CBSE has not
officially declared this. But, our team went to talk to 3 senior executives
employed in 3 different regions of India, and tried to know about evaluation
criterion of class 10. They could not say openly, since official information is
yet to arrive. But they hinted, what are the possibilities. These 3 officials
were:-
1. Mr. Srikant Ayyar (South Zone)
2. Mr. Rahul Gupta (North Zone)
3. Mr. Kuldeep Singh (East Zone)
On the basis of our discussion, with the above mentioned executives, we have concluded that:-
1. The final board results will be released
on or before 31st July 2021 (1200 hours). It is important to note
here that those students who have got fewer marks in pre-boards may opt to sit
in only those exams in which they want. For instance, you have got overall 87%
but in Maths, your score is quite low, say 50, you can sit for exam. These
exams will not be compartment exam but will be designated as Marks-improvement
exams as anybody and everybody shall be eligible to sit for the exam. These
exams will be conducted b/w 1st August and 31st August
only for all essential subjects, which include English, Maths, Science and
Social Science only.
2. In case the student secure less than
previously secured marks, his result will be made on the basis of the average marks
in both exams. For example, if you get 90 in internals but get only 80 in
Rank-improvement exams, your marks will be average of 80 and 90 i.e. 85. This condition
is applicable only in case when you score less marks.
3. Offline or Online marks? In many schools
during the lockdown period, online exams were conducted through Google Forms
and Google Meet/Zoom. The executives of CBSE have strictly said that, no exam
conducted online or not under the guidance of teacher/guardian shall be taken
as a measure for evaluation. In a survey conducted by our site, it was found
that 93% of the student cheated in some form or the other during online exams.
4. Please note this very carefully, as this
is about those students who have given more than 1 offline exams. Some schools
have conducted 2 or 3 offline exams. In this case, students are in a dilemma
that which marks will be included. Mr. Ayyer said that, schools have
independency to choose which ever exam they want to keep for evaluation, but
the condition is that that exam must have been offline, conducted within the
school premises under the invigilation of a teacher.
5. Notebook marks will also be evaluated. Even
the periodic test taken offline or online would count for a small percentage of
the total marks. Only those students who deserve full marks for maintaining a
note book shall be given full credit. Those schools which give full marks for
Note Books to all the students shall be at first target of CBSE and fines would
be imposed on those schools.
6. What about those students who did not
give even 1 offline exam at school? For those students, it will be
compulsory to give Marks Improvement Exam. If the students fail to sit for
exam, for what-so-ever reason, he will not be promoted to class 11th.
If the school promotes him without this exam, he will not be able to give board
exams of class 12th, All India Senior Secondary School Exam
(AISSCE).
7. To sum up, the following will be the exact
way in which evaluation will be conducted:-
a.
Marks
secured in Prelims/pre-prelims : - 80 (offline)
b.
Notebook
Marks : - 05 (offline)
c.
Subject
Enrichment : - 05 (offline/online)
d.
Periodic
Online/Offline/Oral Test : - 10 (offline/online)
Therefore, total marks = 80+05+05+10 = 100 Marks๐๐
